The Role
The Head of Programmes provides strategic leadership to, and management of, the Programmes Department in the development and execution of the country’s strategic programmes to ensure delivery of high quality programmes for children and their communities.
The Head of Program also oversees the child sponsorship function and is responsible to ensure the child sponsorship commitments are achieved.
The Incumbent will act as deputy to the Country Director on program side helping the Country Director to lead and manage program functions.
The environment in South Sudan is exposed to high security risks and therefore there is a possibility of evacuation in case of escalation of the military and political conflict. As such, South Sudan is currently a non-family duty station.
Do you have what it takes?
In order to succeed in this varied and challenging role you will require demonstrable knowledge in driving change and engendering high performing teams, with the ability to lead, motivate and develop others.
In addition, you will require knowledge of key programme areas such as child protection, education, livelihoods, disaster risk management and protection, gender quality with a sound understanding of integrated development issues and critical analysis of child poverty.
Proven experience of working in ongoing conflict or post conflict areas is advantageous.
Strong knowledge about Disaster Risks Management (DRM) issues with specific practical experience in Disaster Risks Reduction (DRR) implementation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and public speaking.

Location: Juba – frequent travel to programme units
Type of Contract: 5 year fixed term contract
Salary: Circa $55,000 USD per annum + benefits
Reports to: Country Director
