Norwegian People’s Aid is a humanitarian organisation rooted in the Norwegian Labour Movement. Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) has been involved in humanitarian mine action since 1992 and is one of the leading humanitarian demining organisations worldwide. NPA works closely with national authorities and other stakeholders on resolving the challenges faced by the local communities caused by landmines and other explosive remnants of war. In 2013, NPA will have 25 Humanitarian Disarmament programmes in the Balkans, Southern Africa, The Horn of Africa, Central Asia, South East Asia, The Middle East and Latin America.
NPA seeks an experienced Programme Manager (PM) and an experienced Operations Manager (OM) to lead the Humanitarian Disarmament programme with focus on cost-effective and efficient use of its operational resources towards survey and clearance of high impact areas, and in coordination with National Authorities and the United Nations.
The programme head quarter is located in Logobero, Yei, in Central Equatoria state, and is currently comprising of 3 international positions and 85 national staff. Operational capacities comprises of survey teams, multi-tasking teams, mine detection dogs and machines, with a focus on survey activities.
General requirements:
We are looking for candidates with training and experience from similar projects in the past. Both positions require relevant higher education or equivalent qualifications (result focused mine action NGO or commercial EOD work, overseas relief and development programmes or military qualifications with international deployments).
The PM has the overall responsibility of the programme including handling of logistics, finance and human resources, as well as develop and maintain a good working relationship with national authorities, the United Nations and other relevant stakeholders.
The OM position will require hands on mine action experience with non-technical and technical survey, manual demining, EOD, and BAC operations. Mechanical and/or animal detection experience is an advantage. The OM will also act as deputy to the PM and therefore will require additional administrative skills and oversight.
