PSI South Sudan seeks qualified, dynamic candidates for the position of Child Survival Field Coordinator for implementation of its Child Survival Program in Yei, Central Equatoria States. Within the framework of ICCM program, PSI partners with a number of primary health facilities and community volunteers, focusing on expanding access to basic healthcare and treatment of the episodes of malaria, diarrhea and pneumonia in children under five years old.

The program is comprised of the four main components that include behavior change communication (BCC); management of supply chain for treatment of malaria, pneumonia and diarrhea specifically in children under 5 years old; establishment and strengthening of the networks of community-based distributors (CBDs) in rural areas; and strengthening of the national health management information systems (HMIS, DHIS & PUDR) from the grass-roots levels of CBD networks to health facilities and County Health Departments (CHDs

The Field Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the CS Program Manager in day-to-day operations related to Child Survival/ ICCM implementation.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Ensure daily coordination of the Child Survival Program implementation in the three Counties of Greater Yei, i.e. Lainya, Morobo & Yei.

  • Manage, develop professional skill set and provide oversight of Capacity building for 12 Field Officers operating in Yei field offices.

  • Provide logistical and program oversight of daily activities of ICCM in Yei Field Locations.

  • Coordinate with, Yei M&E officer to confirm data collected at the field are analyzed and entered into PUDR and DHIS data base.

  • Work closely with CHD Focal Persons to ensure restocking facilities are fully stocked with ACTs, Amoxicillin, ORS and Zinc.

  • Liaison with CHD Focal Person on a regular basis to maintain relationship between PSI and the County Health Departments (CHD) as well as ensure and PHCC/U are maintaining an efficient supply chain.

  • Represent PSI and participate in CHDs Monthly Health sector Coordination Meetings (i.e. Lainya, Morobo & Yei Counties).

  • Represent CS Program Manager at the community level during community leaders’ sensitization and mobilization meetings.

  • Monitor progress against targets, conduct regular meetings and progress reviews with CS field officers.

  • In collaboration with CS Program Manager develop and manage monthly activity budgets and workplans.

  • Submit monthly reports to Child Survival Program Manager.

  • Monitor and track movement of commodities from Juba ware house to CHDs/ Yei field stores.

  • Ensure proper management of PSI organizational assets/fleet (Vehicles & Motor Bikes) at field level.

  • Perform any other relevant duties as assigned by the Child Survival Program Manager.

Requirements:

  • South Sudanese national

  • Should have Diploma in Clinical Medicine. Public Health, Nursing or its equivalent from the recognized institution.

  • Have at least 2 - 3 years experience working in health related programs for an International NGO or Government in similar position. Previous experience working for PSI is an added advantage.

  • High functioning skills in spoken and written English and fluency in Local Arabic

  • He/she must have experience in logistics and operations. Previous experience with start up and program expansion preferred.

  • He/ she must Demonstrated experience in liaising with and mobilizing multiple partners at different levels.

  • He/she must have adequate Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation.

  • He/ She should have excellent communication and community mobilization skills.

  • Previous work in or knowledge of public health concerns in South Sudan preferable.

  • Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point and outlook).

  • He/she must be able to demonstrate initiative, creativity and dedication Organizational guidelines.

  • Ability to operate motorcycle on terrains and roads of South Sudan.

    The successful candidate will be a creative and innovative thinker and will have excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills; interpersonal and cross-cultural skills; a proven ability to produce results in difficult circumstances; and the ability to work efficiently and quickly under pressure both independently and as a team member.
