Job Title: Gender Mainstreaming Fellow/Intern (full time, unpaid, Fall position)

Main responsibilities:
EarthRights International has a longstanding commitment to gender mainstreaming. In Summer 2016, EarthRights began an initiative to take a fresh look at gender mainstreaming across all its programs throughout the Mekong Region of Southeast Asia. The first phase of this initiative drafted a plan to strengthen gender mainstreaming across our legal, campaigns, and training programs. We are now seeking a Fellow to continue developing and deepening our gender mainstreaming work.
The Fellow will join our effort to think deeply and creatively about new approaches to gender mainstreaming. Work may include developing strategies with ERI staff to maximize the participation of women in our legal and campaigns programs; expand our research to identify how major infrastructure projects impact women and men differently; investigate and implement ways to engage women more deeply in advocacy design; and integrate gender into our monitoring and evaluation systems.
The Fellow may also be asked to support other programs, especially the Management Team and/or EarthRights School.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- Professional background and training in gender mainstreaming
- Background in nonprofit management, law, and/or campaigns
- Deep understanding of Southeast Asian culture
- Demonstrated commitment to human rights and environmental issues
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills
- Experience working in a multicultural setting
- Self-motivated, work well in an informal, team-oriented environment, and have a sense of humor.
- Competent in the use of common software such as Word
- Fluency in English
- A bachelor or master’s degree in a related field, such as gender, human rights, political science, international relations, environmental policy
Preferred qualifications:
- Language skills in one or more Southeast Asian language
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience
