Position Summary:
The Private Sector Engagement Specialist will lead efforts to identify and develop private sector partnerships. This individual will shape the program’s technical approach to effectively engaging private-sector actors to reduce the prevalence of trafficking in persons in Asia.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Private Sector Engagement Specialist will oversee the implementation of the project’s private sector engagement strategy and coordinate reporting requirements. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Work with staff, survivors, implementing partners and other stakeholders to develop an overarching private sector engagement strategy and plan for the program
Assess and map the private sector and relevant stakeholders in Asia and identify sectors most at-risk for trafficking
Develop a communication plan and marketing materials aimed at mobilizing private sector support and leveraging resources
Establish and maintain partnerships with relevant private sector actors and networks
Lead negotiations and advocate for MOUs with private sector companies that address trafficking through improved awareness, supply chain monitoring, remediation, and livelihood opportunities for populations most vulnerable to trafficking in persons
Work with private companies and sector groups to improve their capacity to address high risk areas for trafficking in the supply chains of key sectors, including agriculture/fishing, construction, and domestic work
Develop materials and deliver capacity building for private sector advocacy groups on relevant TIP issues
Train program staff as needed on effective approaches to private sector engagement

Qualifications:
Education:
- Advanced degree required in economics, business, international relations, social science, political science, or other related field.
Technical Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience managing public-private sector engagement and partnership
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Asia
At least three (3) years’ experience working in the private, nonprofit or public spheres on issues related to international development, private sector development, or another international development technical area (i.e. agriculture, climate change, health, education, etc.)
Experience in developing partnerships in the context of international development, including identifying partnership opportunities, brokering and cultivating relationships, designing partnership arrangements, facilitating partner negotiations, and formalizing partnership deal structures
Private sector experience, ideally including work on issues related to the intersection of business and international development (experience relevant to human rights initiatives would be a distinct advantage)
Demonstrated ability to engage at senior levels in business and development sector contexts, and to build trust-based relationships with senior-level executives
Experience working with stakeholders across the public, private and non-profit sectors, and an existing network of contacts to draw upon with respect to public-private partnerships for development
Skills:
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are required, working knowledge of other Asia Regional languages is desirable
Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet (preferably Microsoft Access and Excel), and presentation software (Microsoft PowerPoint)
