Thailand: Consultancy – Development of Regional Research Strategy and Strategic Action Plan

Work Assignment/End Product/Work Schedule:

Under the supervision of Regional Adviser - Social Policy and Economic Analysis, the consultant will perform the following tasks:

Prepare and update a PowerPoint Presentation summarizing feedback on the strategy and issues for the action plan as necessary after participating in both the EAP Regional Social Policy Network Meeting in Siem Reap and Regional Management Team Meeting in Thailand

Develop questions to clarify; carry out consultations with EAPRO regional advisers and all Country Offices staff; identify potential funding opportunities at regional and country level

Insights on key directions and internal as well as external funding opportunities

Be a resource person during the session "EAPR Research" during EAP Regional Social Policy Network Meeting in Siem Reap and Regional Management Team Meeting in Thailand

Summarize and integrate feedback/ input from EAPRO and Country Offices staff

Write up and share meeting note with EAPRO after the Regional Management Team Meeting

Develop meeting note and share with EAPRO

Develop final research strategy based on the feedback received at the EAP Regional Social Policy Network Meeting in Siem Reap

Note: The final product should be delivered by no later than 15 April 2017

Estimated Duration of Contract: 13 working days

Official Travel: Home-based with official missions to attend the EAP Regional Social Policy Network Meeting in Siem Reap, Cambodia and Regional Management Plan Meeting in Thailand.

Qualifications or Specialized Knowledge/Experience Required:

  • Advanced Degree in Economics or related area.
  • 10 years of relevant experience in analytical work preferably on areas closely related to equity for children.
  • Familiarity with topics related to UNICEF's global and regional research, cutting across sections.
  • Good knowledge of EAP context is considered an asset.
  • Being based in the region is considered and asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Computer literacy in various office applications.
  • Interested candidates are requested to submit CV or P-11, full contact information of minimum 2 references, availability, proposed daily professional fee and all-inclusive travel costs from/to Cambodia and Thailand in USD by 19 February 2017. Please note the air tickets under UNICEF contract shall be re-routable, refundable type (economy class and most direct route). The consultant will be responsible for own travel insurance, visa fee and terminal expenses.
