About the South Sudan programme:
South Sudan is one of the youngest, poorest and least developed countries world-wide. The 2013 outbreak of hostilities has led to thousands of people being killed or wounded, and hundreds of thousands of people being displaced by the violence. MAG has been working in South Sudan since 2004, to clear landmines/unexploded ordnance and deliver mine risk education to at-risk populations.
About the role:
As a senior technical manager, you will be responsible for ensuring quality, safety and efficiency in our humanitarian and commercial mine clearance and EOD operations. You will hold a recognisable EOD qualification and have extensive experience of implementing efficient clearance operations in challenging environments. Working closely with and reporting to the Technical Operations Manager, you will be accountable for providing internal quality assurance of our operations, ensuring the highest quality of programming. You will also support the Technical operations manager in developing the programmes technical strategy, plans, proposals, budgets, technical training acting as TOM during leave rotations.
About you:
You will have excellent people and project management skills with the ability to coordinate, design, manage, improve and report on technical operations. Previous experience of working in a senior technical position within a similar organisation is essential. This is a demanding yet highly rewarding position that will be suited to a highly motivated, solution-focused and flexible manager. You will need previous experience of managing all phases of large scale technical operations. Previous experience of working in South Sudan or other high risk locations is desirable but not essential.
