From 1st April 2015, CAFOD and Trócaire have been working together in Partnership in South Sudan, We are doing this because we believe that by sharing resources and reducing our operating costs on the communities we serve in South Sudan; we will be more responsive to our partners; it will be easier for our partners to engage with us as one agency in South Sudan, with reduced reporting; and as a partnership we will attract more funding and will be stronger at influencing key actors. CTP has three principle programmes: Emergency Preparedness and Response, Sustainable Livelihoods, and Governance and Peace-Building. CTP is also committed to strengthening the capacity of partners.
CTP is currently looking for an Emergency Programme Manager for our humanitarian programmes in South Sudan. This post is senior management position within CTP and this will be reflected in the terms and conditions.
Job role
The Emergency Programme Manager (EPM) is a member of the CTP Country Management Team (CMT) and will provide humanitarian expertise for CTP’s work in South Sudan. The EPM will provide management and leadership within a humanitarian context and have the skills and experience to build, lead and manage complex and diverse programmes of work. This shall include actions to:
To build, lead, plan, monitor and manage CTP’s humanitarian work in South Sudan in line with the agreed strategy.
Proactively identify opportunities for scaling up our humanitarian work and building long-term capacity in South Sudan.
To develop relationships with partners at strategic level in country, formulating strategy and goals for CTP’s humanitarian work, developing programmes to achieve those goals, and carrying out the programme appraisal and monitoring and review needed to implement and manage those programmes in line with CTP’s values and working principles.
The EPM will work in collaboration with other in-country managers and be part of the in-country management team which is headed by the Country Representative (CR).
Your profile
We are looking for candidates with demonstrated ability to manage complex programmes in humanitarian context and who are conversant with humanitarian standards and best practice. We need someone who is self-motivated and able to identify areas of work and take action to deal with it in a challenging context. Candidates should also be confident in financial management and representing their organisation within NGO donor and faith based networks. A commitment to working in partnership is a must.
