Expert (m/f) for technical and social issues – focus: food distribution

in Unity State, South Sudan

The position is to be filled by 1 October 2016 with an initial contract duration until 31 March 2017. Employment location will be Unity State, South Sudan. Duty trips will be required, bearing in mind the security situation.

Job objectives and tasks

As expert (m/f) for technical and social issues, you will support and advise the programme leadership in implementing Welthungerhilfe’s projects in the project region according to the prescribed content, organisational, temporal and financial framework.

Your most important tasks:

  • plan food distributions in collaboration with WFP, local authorities and other relevant stakeholders

  • train and supervise a distribution team of approximately 20 staff members

  • train and supervise approximatelty 50 casual workers during food distributions

  • compile daily and monthly distribution reports to WFP

  • represent Welthungerhilfe in specialist work groups, workshops etc.

    As a qualified applicant, you possess:

  • a university/university of applied sciences degree in nutrition, rural development, geography or a comparable specialised qualification suitable to the position

  • several years of project experience in planning and steering development-oriented transitional aid measures for international (aid) organisations, preferably in the region

  • a high level of communication skills and intercultural dexterity in the consulting and training of international and local staff or interest groups

  • good mental and physical resilience and readiness for duty trips in volatile areas

  • co-operation and team skills

  • co-ordination and organisation skills even under heavy work pressure

  • very good command of the MS-office package, especially excel

  • very good oral and written command of English
