Thailand: Private sector engagement specialist

Chemonics seeks a private sector engagement specialist for the anticipated five-year, USAID Counter Trafficking in Persons project, part of a comprehensive effort by the U.S government to combat human trafficking in Asia. The project aims to reduce the vulnerability of at-risk individuals and groups to human trafficking, increase the quality and availability of support for trafficked persons, and improve access to justice for trafficked persons. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement strategies for effective outreach to private corporations and other potential partners, and develop and maintain relationships with partners that will support and enhance project outcomes
  • Act as a regional private sector engagement leader, and coordinate stakeholders’ cooperation in information sharing and lead best practice uptake
  • Develop and implement action plans to operationalize partnerships to implement project activities and achieve results
  • Develop a keen understanding of the primary entities that shape the market and become knowledgeable about where financial resources that could contribute to sustainability of project activities are located
  • Lead and train a team of professionals to implement a private sector engagement and resource leveraging strategy
  • Work with the client and government/stakeholder counterparts ensuring national partnerships and relationships

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in economics, business, international relations, social science, political science, or other related field
  • Minimum five years of relevant professional experience managing public-private sector engagement and partnership, with a minimum of five years of experience in Asia
  • Minimum three years of experience – in the private, nonprofit, or public sectors – on issues related to international development, private sector development, or another international development technical area (e.g., agriculture, climate change, education, or health)
  • Experience in developing partnerships in the context of international development, including identifying partnership opportunities, brokering and cultivating relationships, designing partnership arrangements, facilitating partner negotiations, and formalizing partnership deal structures
  • Private sector experience, ideally including work on issues related to the intersection of business and international development
  • Demonstrated ability to engage at senior levels in business and development sector contexts, and to build trust-based relationships with senior-level executives
  • Experience working with stakeholders across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, and an existing network of contacts to draw upon with respect to public-private partnerships for development
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
